I am travelling back to Melbourne from San Francisco with a plan to take a few months to write, research opportunities and spend extra time with family and good friends.
The plan is to launch a new business under the name Victor Perton Global Partners, a global business headquartered in Melbourne. I am open to other opportunities too.
I have just concluded a three year statutory term as the Commissioner to the Americas for the Australian State of Victoria. I received a delightful note from Louise Asher, the Victorian Minister for Innovation, Services and Small Business who expressed the gratitude of the Government: "Your commitment, hard work and enthusiasm in promoting and representing Victoria has been greatly valued and appreciated by the Government. The bilateral government, business and people links you have developed and strengthened in the region have also been of great value to the Department of Business and Innovation and the many Victorian organisations working in-market...."
As Commissioner, I led a passionate and talented team in the Victorian Government Business Offices in San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Washington DC and our tourism office in Los Angeles. The offices promote Victoria and Victorians to North and South Americans. My team assisted Americans wanting to do business in Victoria and its capital Melbourne. We supported Victorians entering the exciting and competitive American markets. Despite the rise in the Australian dollar, we supported more exporters, with increased exports and assisted in winning foreign direct investment in fields as diverse as aerospace, automotive, IT, biotechnology, retail, games and food.
